As the world watches the idiots in Washington D.C. who are on the brink of selling us out and voting us into a socialistic democracy, I can hear people from across the globe saying, "See the American Way doesn't work, more government has always been the answer." Or, "don't they get it?Haven't they seen what has happened to us and that government has never been able to take care of people but only enslaves them?" There are some who want to make AMERICA, become like other countries (social programs, confiscatory taxes, slaves to welfare, weak, and dependent on Government! I think every single enemy of this country is hoping that the liberals in congress prevail. This is what ever nay-sayer country wants. They want us to become, weak, goveling, apologetic whimps who should feel shame-- not pride Story #1 A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenlycomplained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?' Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.' Story #2 Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on. 'You have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.' The American said,''The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it. 'Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France!' The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.' Call your Senators today, and tell them you don't want this pork-laden, spending bill.

I used to work with quite a few French people and they are actually quite nice people. Germans also. I think the perception that other countries dislike Americans is not true, IF they get to actually know Americans. I have even worked with several gentlemen from Iraq that were quite nice and loved America! They said they would never go back, but this was way back when Sadam was still in power.
I agree the politicians seem to want to make us as weak as possible. But while I want America strong, I do not want her to be perceived as a bully by other countries. Lead by example and speak softly and carry a big stick! Have other countries respect us because we are strong in every way!
You are correct that a bigger government is not needed. An effective government is. The politicians bickering about the stimulus package, trying to add pork to it, etc is just a prime example of how our government is not working the way the founding fathers intended.
Hi John, I have been in war zones and foreign countries...as much as we like to think they like us.....they like our money! We give them money to stop killing each other, we give them money to stop starving the poor, we give them money so they can arm themselves. I can't remember when they gave me money! The pork is just as evident now as ever...what we need is Americans to take a stand and get a real budget. Control spending, no more over budget projects...you bid it...you make it. Now more rushing to spend this years money so we get more next year! The accountability has been gone a long time...and we call other countries corrupt! Nice post John.
John ~ There are people...that is too general. Obama wants to make our country like the our Marxist and socialist states. Period. In the guise of making this country socialist, he creates the fear factor.
We have nothing to fear, but fear itself. FDR
If we don't pass MY ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE, we are in danger of an economic colapse that America may never recover from...Obama
See the difference?
Congratulations this post is now featured in Silent Majority of Active Rain.
Mark, the only way we'll ever get an effective Government is to start over--redefine effective--that starst with telling the truth and doing what is best for the conuntry, then elect people who are more interested in doing the right thing, than doing for themselves and the people they want to pay off with earmarks. To say there is no pork in the bill is an out and out lie
Gary, thank you. We might get Americans to take a stand if we could ween them off the music videos, video games, MTV and entertainment tonight and wrestling on pay per view TV. The people who voted for this current administration haven't a clue--
Nick, I've said before and I say it again, Obama is slicker than slick willie ever was or will be.
Thanks Guys, and be blessed
John,
Thank you for your post and for reminding us of the sacrifice of our great military. I believe one of our major challenges in America is the bias media. That is why these blogs and the internet are so important. Journalist are no longer real journalist. They are making news instead of reporting news.
We must continue to speak out and create dialog for debate.
Thank you for your post. I think it does just that.
Have a wonderful day.
Alice
Amen to that Alice.
Wow. This seems to be more of an attack the French than a thread on American pride.
John: Given your examples against the French, I assume you know that if it weren't for the French, you would be speaking with a British accent.
There is a reason my grandfathers generation is called the "greatest generation." If he could see what we have become he would slap someone in the back of the head. Young people, sometimes me included, don't appreciate what we have and what was given up so we can have what we do. Sad to say, but I don't think it will be to long before we say, remember when.............
SCOTT: When in England, at a fairly large conference, Condi Rice was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building' by George Bush. She answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.'
Johnnie, they certainly were the "greatest generation" and I believe so many of our young people who serve today are in the same class.
John: By your answer, you have no idea hwat I was refering to, do you?
Scott: I am just not as astute as you. What can I tell ya. By my answer, you have no idea what I was getting at either. Are we even?
